Gwanak-gu, ranked number one in youth population nationwide (Mayor Park Jun-hee), supports the activation of youth culture and growth as members of society in celebration of Youth Day (September 21).
The district will hold the 6th Gwanak Youth Festival, "A Festival That Does Everything," on the 28th from 1 PM to 7 PM around the Byeolbitnaerincheon Seowon Pedestrian Bridge area.
This festival offers various programs to provide youth with opportunities to enjoy new experiences and communicate with each other.
First, at the Byeolbitnaerincheon waterfront stage, a book talk show titled "Byeolchaek Dabang" will be held to comfort and encourage the lives of young people.
Bestselling author Jang Jae-yeol, writer of "Micro Ritual, The Power of Small Things," will appear to give courage to youth to reduce anxiety and pressure in life, and provide time for young people to share their experiences and communicate with each other.
Also, on the main stage at Byeolbitnaerincheon, a performance stage called "Byeolbit Rookie" featuring young local artists will be held. The district plans to provide young artists with opportunities to showcase their talents and offer residents the joy of the festival site.
Additionally, about ten "Byeolbyeol Booths" will be set up at the festival site, allowing visitors to enjoy the festival through various activities. At the "Byeolbyeol Market," where unused items are traded secondhand, participants can reflect on the value of recycling and join in resource circulation.
Moreover, "Byeolbit Running," where about 50 young people run together along Byeolbitnaerincheon, is also prepared. Youth can sweat together, encourage each other, share concerns, and share their passion.
Especially, the highlight of the festival includes a special congratulatory stage by famous hip-hop artist Nucksal, along with a meaningful event commemorating Youth Day.
As a representative youth city of South Korea, the district will hold a "Youth-Friendly City Vision Declaration" ceremony to share Gwanak-gu’s vision of creating a city where young people want to live with its residents.
The 6th Gwanak Youth Festival is even more meaningful as it is a special festival planned proactively by local youth. The district expects this festival to be an opportunity for young people to experience various cultures and arts and share their thoughts and visions with each other.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, "I hope this festival will be a time for young people to share their stories and gain new inspiration, and a meaningful time for residents to celebrate Youth Day together."
