Fair Trade Commission and Consumer Agency Begin 21.9 Billion KRW Compensation to 800,000 Victims of Nexon Maple Probability Manipulation
First Collective Dispute Resolution Established in the Gaming Sector
The Korea Fair Trade Commission and the Korea Consumer Agency announced on the 22nd that a collective dispute resolution regarding probability-based paid items in the MapleStory game has been established, and compensation amounting to approximately 21.9 billion KRW will be provided. This compensation amount is the largest since the collective dispute resolution system was introduced in 2007.
Earlier, on the 13th of last month, the Consumer Dispute Mediation Committee of the Korea Consumer Agency decided that Nexon must compensate applicants who participated in the collective dispute resolution with 3.1% of the amount spent on the paid item Red Cube and 6.6% of the amount spent on the Black Cube.
All users who acquired and used Red and Black Cubes within the MapleStory game from March 1, 2019, to March 5, 2021, will receive compensation in accordance with the committee's decision.
From the 23rd until the end of the year, compensation applications can be submitted on Nexon's website to receive the compensation amount.
