Changwon Special City Selects Two Teams as September Local Carbon Neutrality Lifestyle Masters
Masan Muhak Girls' Middle School Climate Angel Gaonnuri Club Member Gu Selected as Finalist for Hapseong 1-dong Recycle Volunteer Group
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam has selected the Gaonnuri Club of Masan Muhak Girls' Middle School as the “Master of Environmental Activities” and Team 2 of the Rissa Volunteer Group from Hapseong 1-dong as the “Master of Recycling” for the “September Our Neighborhood Carbon Neutrality Lifestyle Masters.”
The Gaonnuri Club, consisting of 13 members from Masan Muhak Girls' Middle School, was chosen as the Master of Environmental Activities. They are actively raising awareness of environmental issues through activities such as a clothing swap party and a campaign distributing educational materials on carbon neutrality and global warming to each classroom. Through an ecological environment camp, both students and teachers take an ecological guardian's pledge and participate in various themed activities such as an ecology quiz golden bell, living up to their nickname as "climate angels" with their enthusiastic environmental efforts.
The Rissa Volunteer Group from Hapseong 1-dong (Jeon Eunsook, Noh Kyungbun, Jeon Misook, Park Deokseon, Kim Oeseon, Lee Youngju, Oh Youngja), selected as the Master of Recycling, is a team of seven dedicated and voluntary community volunteers. For the past two years, they have been volunteering to sort recyclables for their neighbors, and not only clean local drainage systems but also lead by example in practicing carbon-neutral lifestyles at home.
Choi Youngsook, Director of the Climate and Environment Bureau, stated, “As the enthusiasm of citizens applying for the Carbon Neutrality Lifestyle Masters in our neighborhood continues to grow, the efforts of these everyday environmental guardians are truly reassuring. We ask for your continued interest in the city's carbon neutrality initiatives in the future.”
