'Chuseok Airport Visit Instead of Hometown' Incheon Airport Bustling
75.4% of Office Workers "Used 2 Days of Annual Leave"

View original imageOn the 13th, ahead of the Chuseok holiday, the departure hall at Incheon International Airport is bustling with travelers preparing to go abroad.
According to the "2024 Chuseok Holiday Overseas Travel Intention Survey" conducted by Incheon Airport Corporation on 1,270 individuals aged 18 and over who have traveled overseas through Incheon Airport within the last five years, 11.2% of respondents said they plan to travel abroad during the holiday. This is the highest figure since the first survey was conducted in 2020.
The most preferred travel destinations were Japan (31.1%) in first place, followed by Vietnam (18.0%). The percentage of respondents who said they have plans for short-distance travel was 74.8%, an increase of 3.9 percentage points from last year (70.9%). Regarding the duration of overseas stays, 74.6% answered "within one week," which is a 12.8 percentage point increase compared to last year (61.8%).
The Chuseok holiday lasts from the 14th to the 18th, totaling five days including the weekend. By taking an additional two days of annual leave, one can have up to nine consecutive days off. Among office workers, 75.4% responded that they plan to use annual leave during this period, up 2.8 percentage points from last year (72.6%). When asked about "people traveling together," answers included family and relatives (60.9%), friends and partners (20.5%), alone (12.6%), coworkers (4.0%), and groups or gatherings (2.0%).

Incheon Airport Corporation expects that the number of passengers using Incheon Airport during this Chuseok holiday will reach 1,204,024 (an average of 200,671 per day), breaking the record for the highest number ever. The highest number of passengers is predicted to be on the last day of the holiday, the 18th.
