View original imageConsul General Kim Eui-hwan of New York visited the Harlem Chamber of Commerce, a focal point of the Black community in New York, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the Korean and Black communities.
According to the Consulate General in New York on the 11th (local time), Consul General Kim met with Lloyd Williams, President of the Harlem Chamber of Commerce, and local figures on the 6th.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the possibility of cooperation in various fields, including business between the Korean and Black communities. Through this, it is expected to expand exchanges with the Black community, which plays a significant role in American society, and to gain cooperation and support from the Black community for the Korean community's advancement into mainstream American society.
Both parties agreed to hold cultural exchange events between Korea and the Black community in November this year and February next year. Starting with a small-scale music performance event led by young artists from both sides in November, they plan to collaborate with the City College of New York (CCNY) in February next year, during Black History Month, to hold a next-generation exchange event between the Korean and Black communities.

Consul General Kim Eui-hwan stated, "Currently, Korea-US relations have continuously developed in various fields such as politics, economy, and culture based on the Korea-US alliance and active trade and investment between the two countries," adding, "I hope that friendly cooperative relations between the two countries will continue at the grassroots civil level within the region."
