Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will operate a 'Children's Kimchi Making Experience Class' for children aged 2 to 5 at the district office cafeteria on the 27th.
According to a survey on children's eating habits in Gwangjin-gu last year, 43% of respondents answered that they "rarely eat kimchi." In response, Gwangjin-gu prepared this experience program to increase children's kimchi consumption rate and promote healthy eating habits.
This education program is conducted in cooperation with the Gwangjin-gu Children and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and will be held twice starting at 11 a.m. on the 27th.
About 100 children will participate in each session, and the education will be conducted together with Kimchi Master Lee Ha-yeon, holder of Traditional Food Master No. 58.
Children will receive free hands-on experience education using kimchi, including ▲kimchi education ▲making napa cabbage kimchi ▲tasting and packaging.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "To encourage children's interest in kimchi, we are operating the 'Kimchi Making Experience Class' together with the Gwangjin-gu Children and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center. Going forward, Gwangjin-gu will continue to develop and operate various educational programs to help children form healthy eating habits."
