Recently, among Generation Z, a trend known as the 'overseas travel certification shot' has become popular, where travelers lay out their belongings at airport security checkpoints and take photos. Some have raised concerns that these photos delay the screening process and cause inconvenience to other passengers, labeling it a 'nuisance behavior.'

According to CNN on the 8th, among Generation Z, a certification photo trend called the 'airport tray aesthetic' is popular when departing for overseas travel at airport security checkpoints. Through these photos, they naturally showcase that they are traveling abroad by plane, along with high-value items such as bags and cosmetics. Because these photos are meant for showing off, the tray photos posted by Generation Z are far from the cluttered, realistic trays seen in actual screenings. Instead, they are 'aesthetic' certification photos taken after harmoniously arranging shoes, bags, passports, sunglasses, cosmetics, books, tablets, and more.

This trend has drawn criticism as a 'nuisance.' Taking certification photos at airport security checkpoints, where every second counts for safety, is considered inappropriate. The New York Post sharply criticized, saying, "Influencers leading the trend of prolonged times at security checkpoints are an attack on the U.S. Transportation Security Administration's operations." The UK’s Metro newspaper also warned, calling it "a trend that causes anxiety" and stating, "You could become the most hated person at the airport." CNN emphasized, "In a world where people take photos with flowers and paintings next to eggs and butter in refrigerators, airport security checkpoints are the most inappropriate place for such photos."

CNN also warned, "Social networking services (SNS) that incessantly showcase daily life like this can especially have a negative impact on the mental health of younger generations." It further pointed out, "With certification shots like the airport tray photos and other posts by people wanting to show off flooding SNS feeds 24/7, the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) may feel relative deprivation, which could adversely affect their mental health."

A spokesperson for the U.S. Transportation Security Administration stated, "No delays caused by this have been reported yet," but also urged, "Please be careful not to lose your belongings, as passports and light items can be swept away by the screening machines."
