Professor Lee Songyi of Pukyong National University Wins 16th Young Organic Chemist Award
Professor Songyi Lee (Department of Chemistry) at Pukyong National University has been awarded the 16th Young Organic Chemist Award by the Korean Chemical Society.
Professor Lee received the honor in recognition of her outstanding research achievements in the field of organic fluorescent materials by the Organic Chemistry Division of the Korean Chemical Society.
The Young Organic Chemist Award is presented to a member of the Organic Chemistry Division of the Korean Chemical Society who has published excellent papers related to organic chemistry and has made significant contributions to the development of the field and the division.
Professor Lee's research achievements in organic fluorescent materials have been published in prestigious journals such as those of the Royal Society of Chemistry in the UK, top-tier international journals in basic science, and world-renowned review journals, earning her recognition for excellence both domestically and internationally.
At the recent summer workshop of the Organic Chemistry Division of the Korean Chemical Society, Professor Lee received the award and delivered a commemorative lecture titled "Molecular design approach to heavy-atom-free photosensitizers for fluorescent bioimaging and photodynamic therapy," in which she introduced molecular design approaches for new fluorescent imaging and photodynamic therapy photosensitizers that do not contain heavy atoms, and discussed how related research can bring innovation to biological imaging and photodynamic therapy.
