Community Collaboration for Autumn Outing Safety... Songpa-gu Supports 303 Daycare Centers with ▲Leader Bands
Korea Child Safety Foundation and Korea Sports Promotion Foundation Donate Safety Vests Worth 12 Million KRW
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it will provide safety equipment to all 303 daycare centers in the area to ensure that children can enjoy safe outings ahead of the autumn season, which is perfect for excursions.
Among the 25 autonomous districts in Seoul, Songpa-gu, known as a truly "young city" with the highest number of infants and toddlers, prioritizes creating a child-friendly and safe childcare environment and is committed to child safety.
As outdoor activities increase in autumn, the district joined hands with the Korea Child Safety Foundation and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation to protect children. They decided to provide safety equipment that allows small-sized and unpredictable young children to move safely. High-visibility reflective ▲safety vests and ▲guiding belts will be produced and distributed to daycare centers in the area.
First, the Korea Child Safety Foundation (CEO Ko Seok), which has a partnership through the consignment service of the Songpa Safety Experience Education Center located in Macheon-dong, donated safety vests worth 10 million won in kind. The Korea Sports Promotion Foundation (Chairman Jo Hyun-jae), located in Olympic Park, also supported the effort with cash funding to produce about 200 sets.
The district will produce guiding belts, which are suitable for use when many children move together, and distribute them to daycare centers. These belts consist of a long fluorescent fabric with handles lined up, guiding children to walk in an orderly manner and preventing various safety accidents such as missing children.
A district official said, "The direction of this donation aligns with the district’s child safety management projects, so budget savings are expected." He added, "Above all, by equipping easily identifiable safety gear, a safer childcare environment will be created where adults can pay more attention."
The district plans to produce and distribute 1,250 safety vests to children enrolled in daycare centers by October and provide two guiding belts to each of the 303 daycare centers.
