National Police Agency to Implement Special Chuseok Security Measures... "Ensuring Public Safety"
The National Police Agency announced on the 8th that it will implement a "Chuseok Holiday Special Security Plan" from the 9th to the 18th of this month.
According to the police, 112 emergency calls during the Chuseok holiday have increased by an average of 7% over the past five years. Last Chuseok, emergency calls rose by 5.2%, and serious crimes increased by 8%.
The police will strengthen preventive activities focused on patrols and inspections to proactively block crime risk factors. They will also actively support emergency medical personnel protection and emergency transport, and reinforce response to livelihood-related crimes that threaten the daily lives of citizens, alongside a 112-centered situation management system. Furthermore, by maintaining an emergency contact system for all police officers, they will establish a situation management system without security gaps and implement step-by-step customized traffic control in congested areas and on routes for returning home and going back to work.
