"Don't Mislabel the Origin" ... Goseong County Conducts Guidance and Crackdown on Agricultural Product Origin Labeling
Goseong County, Gyeongnam Province, will conduct guidance and inspections on the labeling of origins for agricultural and livestock products, whose demand increases for Chuseok holiday essentials and ritual items, until the 13th.
This inspection on the labeling of agricultural product origins will target traditional markets, discount stores, and processing companies within the county, covering 663 agricultural product items and 29 items for general and rest area restaurants.
The main focus of the inspection includes whether the origin labeling is properly implemented and displayed, any false or misleading labeling practices, and acts of disguising or mixing origins for sale.
▲ Minor violations will be corrected on site immediately ▲ Failure to label or improper labeling methods will result in fines ranging from 50,000 to 10 million KRW ▲ False labeling will result in administrative penalties, including fines from 0.5 to up to 4 times the amount involved.
Kim Youngguk, Head of the Agricultural and Food Distribution Division, said, "Through this origin labeling inspection, we will do our best to establish a sound distribution order so that consumers visiting Goseong County for Chuseok can purchase agricultural products with confidence."
