Gijang-gun Opens Registration for 'Gijang Humanities Empathy' Academy September Lectures
Professor Kim Heon to Give Lecture on 'Socrates Goes to the Battlefield'
Registration Opens First-Come, First-Served on Lifelong Learning Website from the 5th
Gijang County in Busan (Governor Jeong Jongbok) announced on the 4th that it will begin accepting applications for participants in the September lecture of the 'Gijang Humanities Empathy Academy' starting from the 5th.
This lecture will be held at 2 p.m. on the 26th at the Small Theater for Children in Jeonggwan Library. Professor Kim Heon (humanities scholar), also well-known as an author of Greek and Roman mythology, has been invited to give a lecture on the topic 'Socrates on the Battlefield - The Value of a Philosophical Life.'
Professor Kim is currently serving as a professor at the Institute of Humanities at Seoul National University. He has authored books such as 'Socrates on the Battlefield,' 'Kim Heon's Greek and Roman Mythology,' and 'The Time of Questions.' He has also made frequent appearances on TV programs including tvN's 'Naked World History,' KBS 1FM's 'Live Information Show,' MBN's 'Greek and Roman Mythology - The Private Lives of the Gods,' and SBS's 'Kim Youngcheol's Power FM.'
Any resident of Gijang County can participate in the lecture, and applications can be submitted on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 9 a.m. on the 5th through the Gijang County Lifelong Learning website.
A Gijang County official said, "We hope many people will participate and immerse themselves in philosophy that accompanies everyday life."
