Changwon Special City to Take Action to Prevent Payment Delays and Wage Arrears
Early Payment of Public Facility Construction Fees Ahead of Chuseok
43 Billion Won to Be Paid Before Chuseok Through Progress and Completion Inspections
With the traditional holiday of Chuseok approaching, Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province is taking steps to make early payments for progress and completion fees for ongoing public facility construction projects, as well as conducting on-site inspections to prevent delays in subcontractor payments and wage arrears.
Changwon City announced that by the 10th, it will conduct progress and completion inspections for 12 public facility construction projects and make early payments totaling 4.3 billion KRW before the Chuseok holiday.
This measure is being taken in response to concerns over potential delays in subcontractor payments and wage arrears due to the prolonged downturn in the construction industry. By making early payments, the city aims to prevent construction companies and workers from facing financial difficulties before the holiday.
Currently, there are a total of 12 public facility construction projects commissioned by Changwon City awaiting progress and completion inspections, with a total payment amounting to 4.3 billion KRW.
The city plans to complete progress and completion inspections within seven days and pay the construction fees within three days of the payment request, ensuring that payments are made before the Chuseok holiday. In addition, the city will conduct on-site inspections of public facilities to ensure that there are no cases of delayed payments.
Lee Sangin, Director of Urban Public Development, stated, "Given the difficulties facing the local economy due to rising prices and economic downturn, the city will take the lead in alleviating financial difficulties for construction companies and ensuring that workers can enjoy a happy Chuseok." He added, "We will promptly conduct progress and completion inspections to ensure payment before the holiday and actively guide the prevention of subcontractor payment and wage arrears through on-site inspections."
