[2025 Early Admission Special] Kyung Hee University Abolishes Mandatory Subjects for Minimum CSAT Score Requirement
Establishment of the Department of Liberal Arts and Sciences, 406 Students Selected
Increase in Quota for the Department of Future Information Display
Kyung Hee University will select 2,962 students, which is 55% of the total quota (5,384 students), in next year’s early admission. Starting this year, the university has abolished the mandatory subjects for the CSAT minimum academic achievement criteria and relaxed the standards by including two subjects from the inquiry area in the minimum academic achievement criteria.
They will select 634 students through the Student Record Screening, 1,533 students through the Comprehensive Student Record Screening, 477 students through the Essay Excellence Screening, and 318 students through the Practical Skills Excellence Screening.
From next year’s freshman recruitment, Kyung Hee University has established a new 'Autonomous and Free Major' recruitment unit. Students admitted to the Autonomous Major Division (Seoul Campus and Global Campus) will explore their majors through a one-year major exploration program and decide their desired department when they advance to the second year. Except for some majors, students can choose departments and majors offered on each campus regardless of their academic track. The recruitment quota is 406 students (165 for Seoul Campus, 241 for Global Campus).
A new 'Future Information Display Division' will be established in the College of Science. This division operates an industry-linked curriculum related to the next-generation display industry. Accordingly, the quota for the existing Information Display Department will increase from 55 to 88 students, an increase of 33 students.
Additionally, the Department of Oriental Medicine Biotechnology and the Department of Plant and Environmental New Materials Engineering in the College of Life Sciences have been integrated to form the new 'Convergent Bio and New Materials Engineering Department.' Also, the Department of Information Electronics and New Materials Engineering in the College of Engineering has been renamed the 'New Materials Engineering Department.'
Looking at the detailed screening methods, the Student Record Screening combines 30% comprehensive academic evaluation and 70% school records including academic and non-academic (attendance and volunteer work) scores, selecting students based on total scores. The CSAT minimum academic achievement criteria are applied. For the autonomous major selection system, only academic competency is evaluated in the comprehensive academic evaluation.
Among the Comprehensive Student Record Screening, 1,055 students will be selected through the Neo Renaissance Screening, 388 through the Opportunity Equalization Screening, and 90 through the Equal Opportunity Screening. Document evaluation is conducted solely based on school records. The Neo Renaissance Screening uses a multi-stage evaluation, while the Opportunity Equalization and Equal Opportunity Screenings use a comprehensive evaluation method.
