Hapcheon County Selected for Next Year's Agricultural Product Safety Analysis Lab Project
Secured 1 Billion KRW in Project Funds, Expecting Safe Agricultural Product Supply and Revitalization of Local Economy
Hapcheon County in Gyeongnam has been finally selected for the Rural Development Administration's '2025 Agricultural Product Safety Analysis Laboratory Public Project,' securing a project budget of 1 billion KRW.
This selection was made through a first-round document review and a second-round presentation evaluation, with Hapcheon County being chosen alongside Dangjin in Chungnam and Gimje in Jeonbuk. In particular, it is drawing attention as the only county-level case selected in Gyeongnam.
The secured project budget will be used to establish analysis equipment and systems related to agricultural product safety by 2026.
The Agricultural Product Safety Analysis Laboratory is planned to be located on the second floor of the annex in the new Hapcheon County Science-based Farming Complex Facility, which is currently under construction. Through this, systematic safety monitoring will be conducted for local food, agricultural products supplied to school meals, agricultural products in preparation for PLS implementation, and GAP and eco-friendly certified agricultural products in the region.
The county expects that this project will help secure consumer trust in Hapcheon agricultural products and greatly contribute to expanding local agricultural product consumption and revitalizing the regional economy.
In particular, Hapcheon County has so far outsourced about 350 agricultural product safety analyses annually, but in the future, it will be able to handle more than 2,000 to 3,000 inspection demands internally, which is expected to result in annual budget savings of over 500 million KRW.
Lee Jaesuk, Director of the Hapcheon County Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "The selection for this public project is significant as it lays a leading foundation for the production of safe agricultural products, management stability for farmers, and improvement of consumer trust," and added, "We will create the nation's best exemplary case through systematic operation going forward."
