Gijang County in Busan to Launch 'Pet Dog Playground Construction Project'
Approximately 1,970㎡ of County Land in Cheonggang-ri, Gijang-eup
Scheduled for Completion and Full Operation in First Half of 2025
Gijang-gun, Busan (Governor Jung Jongbok) has recently initiated the relevant procedures to promote the 'Gijang Dog Playground Construction Project'.
The 'Gijang Dog Playground' will be established on approximately 1,970 square meters of county-owned land located in Cheonggang-ri, Gijang-eup. The playground will include ▲ a dedicated field for dogs ▲ play facilities (such as agility equipment) ▲ walking trails ▲ and other convenience facilities (such as restrooms and benches).
The county has secured a project budget of 220 million KRW and held two resident briefing sessions to gather opinions from residents living near the project site.
Starting from September, the county plans to complete detailed design services and finish construction in the first half of next year, after which the playground will officially open for operation.
Governor Jung Jongbok stated, "I hope the dog playground will become a space that brings happiness to both pets and pet owners in the region," and added, "We will actively support the establishment of a healthy pet culture."

The county is actively working to expand dog play facilities and promote animal welfare in response to the rapid increase in households raising dogs in the area. Currently, one dog playground is in operation (Gilcheon-ri, Jangan-eup), and a subsidy of 20,000 KRW is provided for the implantation of pet microchips. In addition, the county is preparing to establish the Gijang-gun Animal Welfare Committee to efficiently implement animal protection and welfare policies.
