View original imageAs the spread of deepfake pornographic video damage through social media has been increasing recently, there have been calls for psychological support for teachers and students.
According to the Chungnam Teachers' Union on the 29th, a survey on deepfake crime damage was conducted among union members from the 26th to the 28th, and it was reported that there was a case of deepfake video production and distribution at A Middle School.
However, it is known that the school only took light measures, such as a written apology, equivalent to the level of punishment for simple abusive language.
In addition, at B High School, it was suggested that several students had their personal social media accounts, such as Instagram, hacked, resulting in the leakage of private photos and DM conversations, which may have been used in deepfake crimes.
Regarding this, the Chungnam Teachers' Union raised the need for confidential psychological support for teachers and students who are suffering from anxiety and fear, even though the victims are required to prove the damage and no direct evidence of damage has been confirmed.
Choi Jaeyoung, head of the Chungnam Teachers' Union, stated, "There are limits to preventing digital sex crimes such as deepfake videos through the efforts of schools or education offices alone." He argued, "It is urgent to establish a unified control tower involving the education office, police agency, and provincial government to educate about the seriousness of deepfake crimes, set up a separate reporting and investigation system, establish strong punishment regulations for perpetrators, and provide direct and indirect psychological treatment and support for victims."
