Ewha Electric Begins Full-Scale Production of Vacuum Mold Transformer... "Continuous Expansion of Facility Investment"
Specialized power conversion device company Ihwa Electric announced on the 28th that it has completed a production facility for vacuum cast resin transformers with an area of approximately 1,000 pyeong in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, and has begun full-scale production.
Founded in 1956, Ihwa Electric manufactures uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), moldless type cast resin transformers, rectifiers, and more. Recently, to actively respond to the rapid increase in power demand in data centers and renewable energy sectors as well as customer requirements, the company decided to establish a production line for vacuum cast resin transformers and invested in recruiting specialized personnel and equipment.
In particular, the company made large-scale investments including low-voltage and high-voltage winding machines, vacuum casting equipment, curing ovens, and testing equipment between processes. With the establishment of this production line, it can now produce cast resin transformers worth 35 billion KRW annually in-house.
A company representative stated, “Until now, we have focused on producing moldless type cast resin transformers, but to actively respond to market changes and leverage the strengths of the existing type, we have established a new production line for vacuum cast resin transformers. Based on the versatility of vacuum cast resin transformers, we will be able to meet various specific requirements of our customers and compete actively in the transformer business.”
He added, “The existing cast resin transformers have a high level of trust in safety and have been supplied significantly to subway substation facilities. Through this investment, we plan to actively target the cast resin transformer market by establishing mold and hybrid production lines and leveraging our technological competitiveness.”
The transformers produced through this new production process will be the first in Korea to calculate the product carbon footprint index to support customers’ carbon neutrality efforts. The company plans to obtain verification reports from global certification bodies based on the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards, and gradually aims to reduce carbon emissions by analyzing measured data.
