Lee Jae-myung Discharged Today... Returns to Party Affairs Tomorrow Presiding Over Supreme Council Meeting
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who has been hospitalized due to a COVID-19 diagnosis, will be discharged on the 27th. He is expected to resume party duties by presiding over the Supreme Council meeting on the following day, the 28th.
The Democratic Party stated on the same day, "Lee will be discharged today and will return to party affairs by chairing the Supreme Council meeting tomorrow." Earlier, Lee was diagnosed with COVID-19 on the 22nd and has been undergoing inpatient treatment.
While hospitalized, Lee directed the initiation of a fact-finding investigation into the Yoon Seok-youl administration's 'Dokdo erasure' through what is called 'bedside politics.' He also ordered the preparation of countermeasures against a medical crisis ahead of the healthcare workers' union strike scheduled for the 29th.
Additionally, he instructed the National Assembly to establish measures to eradicate deepfake crimes. He particularly urged the development of victim protection plans and the enactment of strict punishment regulations for deepfake creators and distributors. During the 20th presidential election, Lee pledged to impose strong penalties on deepfake crimes.
