In his opening remarks at the Cabinet meeting held at the Yongsan Presidential Office building in Seoul that day, President Yoon said, "We will avoid simple cash support and focus on supporting the three core areas most needed in actual childcare settings: work-family balance, child-rearing, and housing."
President Yoon explained, "We will expand spousal paternity leave to 20 days to ensure sufficient childcare time at the necessary moments and significantly increase childcare leave benefits. In cases where urgent help is needed due to a sudden illness of a child, we will newly provide emergency care services through workplace daycare centers."
He also promised financial investment in the health and medical sector. President Yoon emphasized, "We will drastically increase financial support from about 800 billion won this year to 2 trillion won next year to revitalize regional and essential medical care and thoroughly prepare for future medical demands." He explained that finances will be steadily invested focusing on five key areas essential for revitalizing regional and essential medical care: expanding medical personnel, providing essential medical services, fostering regional healthcare, establishing a safety net for medical accidents, and essential medical research and development (R&D).
President Yoon stated, "Including 10 trillion won in financial investment over the next five years, we will invest a total of more than 20 trillion won to establish a regional essential medical system that ensures fair accessibility for all citizens regardless of the region they live in within the Republic of Korea."
