Seongdong-gu, Disaster Safety Experience Education for Apartment Complexes on the Go
September 7 to October 19, Every Saturday, 5 Sessions for Residents of 5 Complexes
Enhancing Disaster Response Skills Through Various Safety Experiences Including Fire Extinguisher Use, CPR, and Fire Evacuation Maze Simulation
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) announced that it will implement the 'Visiting Apartment Disaster Safety Experience Education' to ensure the safe living of residents.
This education program will be held a total of five times every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. between September 7 and October 19. It targets residents of five apartment complexes in Seongdong-gu and takes place at designated locations within each complex. Conducted by the Seongdong Life Safety Learning Center, this program was established to improve convenience for residents who had difficulty receiving safety education due to accessibility constraints and to enable effective response to disaster situations.
The curriculum includes ▲ proper use of fire extinguishers ▲ fire evacuation maze experience ▲ cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training, among others. Residents can develop the ability to respond quickly and appropriately in disaster situations through various realistic safety experiences. Unlike the first half of the year, certificates of completion will be issued to residents who complete all sessions in this second half of the year.
Seongdong-gu conducted safety education for a total of 428 residents in five apartment complexes in the first half of this year. The upcoming second half education will be directly organized by the Seongdong Life Safety Learning Center to provide more systematic and practical safety training.
Meanwhile, as concerns have risen due to recent consecutive electric vehicle fires in several areas, on the 13th, Seongdong-gu signed a ‘Seongdong-gu Electric Vehicle Fire Prevention and Response Work Agreement’ with the Seongdong Fire Station and Seongdong Police Station. To take proactive measures for fire prevention under this agreement, the district, together with the Seongdong Fire Station, has been conducting guidance and inspections of fire safety facilities in 20 apartment complexes with more than 1,000 parking spaces from August 19 to August 30, striving to create a safe living environment.

Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, "Since apartment complexes where the majority of residents live can easily lead to disaster situations if neglected, education to prevent various safety accidents is very important." He added, "I hope this education will raise awareness of safety accidents that may occur within apartment complexes and strengthen initial response capabilities. We will continue to make efforts to protect the lives of all residents."
