Hanwha Ocean Discusses Shipbuilding Projects with US Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman
Request for Support in Approval Process of Phili Joseon Shipyard
Hanwha Ocean announced on the 27th that it discussed key personnel from the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee and the overall execution of U.S. Navy ship projects.
Hanwha Ocean’s CEO Kwon Hyuk-woong, Vice President and Head of the Special Ship Business Division Lee Yong-wook, and Vice President and Head of the Special Ship Overseas Business Group Jung Seung-kyun, along with other key executives, met with Jack Reed, Chairman of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, and Philip Goldberg, U.S. Ambassador to South Korea, at a U.S. military base in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, the previous day to discuss ship project operations.
At the meeting, Hanwha Ocean expressed a strong commitment to contributing to the enhancement of U.S. naval power through participation in Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) projects. They also requested Chairman Reed’s cooperation to expedite the approval procedures necessary for shipbuilding at the Philly shipyard in the United States.
A Hanwha Ocean official stated, "As a global leader in the shipbuilding industry, Hanwha Ocean will contribute to the U.S. defense industry and commercial shipping sectors," adding, "We are confident that we can establish a strong presence in the U.S. market going forward."
