Samsung C&T Resort Division Everland announced on the 26th that the Pubao-starring movie Hello, Halbuji will be simultaneously released nationwide on the 4th of next month at theaters such as CGV, Lotte Cinema, and Megabox. The film was co-produced with content production company Acoms.
As the poster copy says, "I was the one who gave love, but you were the one who gave happiness," the film aims to present audiences with a 'gift'-like movie.
Hello, Halbuji contains warm stories of Pubao's mother Aibao, father Lebao's arrival in Korea, Pubao's birth and growth, as well as Pubao's twin siblings Ruibao and Huibao, the panda family, and the zookeepers.
In particular, it focuses on the last three months of Pubao's journey before leaving for China in early April. Previously unreleased footage and untold stories of panda keepers Halbuji Kang Cheol-won and Song Young-gwan are revealed for the first time in interview format.
Veteran directors Shim Hyung-joon and Thomas Ko participated in the production of Hello, Halbuji. Director Shim has extensive experience in producing films, dramas, and music videos. Director Ko is recognized for his sophisticated sensibility in independent films, commercials, and music videos. National singer Lee Moon-se and singer-songwriter Kim Pureum contributed to the original soundtrack (OST).
The untold stories of the Bao family, which could not be captured on camera, are expressed through a 'documation' (documentary + animation) style with added imagination. Animated sequences depict the childhood stories of Pubao and keeper Kang Cheol-won, Kang's first meeting with Aibao and Lebao, and the love story of Aibao and Lebao.
Pubao is Korea's first baby panda born through natural breeding at Everland Panda World on July 20, 2020. With his round and cute appearance and mischievous behavior, he earned various nicknames from fans such as 'Princess Pu,' 'Yongin Pussi,' and 'Putuntun.' As his name means 'a treasure that brings happiness,' he received nationwide love.
