UNESCO Korea Committee Holds Workshop in Ghana... Sharing Methods for Registering World Memory Heritage
UNESCO World Documentary Heritage Capacity Building Workshop
The Korean National Commission for UNESCO and the Cultural Heritage Administration will conduct the "UNESCO World Documentary Heritage Capacity Building Workshop" from the 27th to the 30th in Accra, the capital of Ghana, Africa. This program is designed to transfer methods of discovering and registering documentary heritage to countries facing difficulties in preserving and registering world documentary heritage.
Since 2009, Korea has been carrying out this project, contributing to the registration of eleven World Documentary Heritage items and thirteen regional listings.
Officials in charge of documentary heritage from eleven countries including Ghana, Namibia, Nigeria, Lesotho, Malawi, Senegal, Eswatini, Uganda, Cabo Verde, C?te d'Ivoire, and Tunisia will participate in this workshop.
They will receive training on application writing guidelines and recent trends from advisory committee members such as Jan Bos, Chair of the International Advisory Committee on World Documentary Heritage, Joy Springer, member of the World Documentary Heritage Registration Subcommittee, and Kyungho Seo, Professor Emeritus at Seoul National University.

Han Kyung-gu, Secretary-General of the Korean National Commission for UNESCO, stated, "Based on the experience and know-how accumulated over the past 15 years, we will strengthen expertise and cooperation systems in the field of UNESCO documentary heritage and continue to expand Korea's role in the registration of documentary heritage in developing countries."
