Heavy Rain Causes Multiple Landslides in Phuket, Thailand... At Least 10 Dead
At least 10 people, including foreign tourists, died in a landslide caused by heavy rain in Phuket, Thailand.
According to local media on the 24th (local time), multiple landslides occurred in Phuket the previous morning. The landslides were triggered by heavy rainfall measuring about 200mm, which caused soil, rocks, and trees to cover residential areas including hotels and apartments.
In the southeastern Tambon Karon area of Phuket, where the scale was large, several buildings including villas and migrant worker accommodations were buried. Authorities found 10 bodies, including a Russian couple, six Myanmar workers, and two Thais.

In addition, more than 10 people were injured and about 50 houses were damaged. Authorities are searching four other locations where people are presumed to be buried, and the scale of the damage is expected to increase.
