Shake Off the Heat, Embrace Glocal Universities... Passion Runs High at Kumoh National Institute of Technology Student Council
Kumoh National Institute of Technology Student Council Forms National March Volunteer Delegation
Wishing for Glocal University Selection and Successful Hosting of the Gumi Asian Athletics Championships
"As students of Kumoh National Institute of Technology, we wish to contribute, even in a small way, to the selection of our university as a Glocal University. We hope that our passion and efforts will help the growth of both our school and the local community."
With this commitment in mind, students from Kumoh National Institute of Technology took on volunteer activities with a sense of responsibility toward their local community.
Organized by the student council, the volunteer group formed the "K-Protector Kumoh National Institute of Technology Volunteer Dispatch Team 3rd Generation" from the 16th to the 23rd. Together with 35 enrolled students, they walked along the East Coast of North Gyeongsang Province, engaging in various volunteer activities.
This volunteer dispatch team was formed to achieve two goals: the selection of the university as a Glocal University and the successful hosting of the Gumi Asian Athletics Championships. It reflects the students' desire to contribute to the local community through voluntary participation and dedication. The journey covered a total distance of 110 km over 8 days and 7 nights, starting from Pohang, passing through Yeongdeok, and ending in Uljin.
During this journey, the students communicated with local residents to directly identify the volunteer activities needed and, in cooperation with the Yeongdeok-gun and Uljin-gun Volunteer Centers, implemented various practical programs to provide real help.
Lee Minho, the leader of the K-Protector 3rd Generation Volunteer Team (Student Council President), said, "It is very meaningful that the National Trek, which could not be held since 2018 due to COVID-19, has resumed. I hope for the selection as a Glocal University and for the successful hosting of the Asian Athletics Championships to be held next year."
