An alumnus who majored in piano music and graduated from Pusan National University is being praised for practicing sharing by donating development funds raised through hosting various music events and educational programs to support juniors at their alma mater.
Pusan National University (President Choi Jaewon) announced that the Piano Alumni Association (President Bae Sujeong) held a ceremony at the university headquarters on the 22nd to donate 3 million KRW in development funds for the advancement of the Department of Music’s piano major.
The Pusan National University Piano Alumni Association, which originated from the Department of Music Education in the College of Education, the predecessor of the College of Arts’ Department of Music’s piano major, has been supporting the development of its alma mater and juniors through steady scholarships and development fund donations every year since its establishment in 2019. With this donation, the cumulative amount donated by the association has reached 12 million KRW.
The Piano Alumni Association annually hosts educational scholarship competitions such as the National Piano Competition, Piano Ensemble Competition, and Award Winners’ Celebration Concert, supporting talented individuals and music artists, and contributing to the revitalization of the performance culture in the Busan music community.
This year’s donation of 3 million KRW will be used for scholarships for outstanding performers and the expansion of music education facilities to further develop the piano major in the Department of Music at Pusan National University.
Bae Sujeong, President of the Piano Alumni Association, said, “It is very meaningful to be able to donate to our alma mater with funds raised through projects organized by the alumni association,” and added, “I hope this donation will contribute to the development of the Department of Music at Pusan National University and the discovery of outstanding talent.”
