GH Joins Energy Day Event 'Turning Off Lights and Turning On Stars'
Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) will participate in the "Turn Off the Lights and Turn On the Stars" event on the 22nd in celebration of Energy Day.
On this day, GH will turn off air conditioners for one hour starting at 2 PM to maintain a healthy indoor temperature and will join the nationwide simultaneous lights-off event at 9 PM to contribute to energy saving. GH also plans to actively encourage participation in the event not only at its headquarters but also at field project teams and employees' homes.
Energy Day, hosted by the Energy Citizens' Coalition and supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Environment, was established to encourage all citizens to save energy, inspired by the record-high electricity consumption on August 22, 2003.
GH is making efforts to spread eco-friendly practices within the company by implementing the "GH Climate Action Award," which collects and shares ideas from employees on reducing their carbon footprint in daily life and encourages their implementation across the organization.
The recently relocated Gwanggyo office building is a super energy-saving office facility designed with specialized features to reduce energy consumption. It has introduced the largest-scale building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system in Korea, maximizing renewable energy production.
