Jeju Island Strong Winds... Heavy Rain Concentrated in Gangwon Mountain Areas
On the 21st, Typhoon 'Jongdari' will move northeastward over the southern West Sea, bringing rain to most parts of the country.
Over the two days from the 20th to the 21st, 30 to 80 mm of rain is forecasted for Gwangju, Jeonnam, the Gyeongsang region, and Jeju Island. Some areas along the Jeonnam coast, the southern coast of Gyeongnam, near Jirisan, and the mid-mountain and mountainous areas of Jeju Island may receive more than 100 mm of rain.
The expected rainfall for the day on the 21st is 30 to 80 mm in the Seoul metropolitan area, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, the Chungcheong region, and Jeonbuk; 20 to 60 mm in the five West Sea islands; and 10 to 40 mm along the Gangwon East Coast. Up to 100 mm or more of rain is expected in southern Gyeonggi, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, the western coast and northern inland of Chungnam, central and northern Chungbuk, and the western coast of Jeonbuk.
Very heavy rain accompanied by gusts of 30 to 50 mm per hour, thunder, and lightning will be concentrated until morning near the Jeonnam coast, the southern coast of Gyeongnam, and around Jirisan; from dawn to morning in southern Gyeonggi, the western coast of Chungnam, northern inland Chungnam, and northern Chungbuk; and from morning to afternoon in inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon.
In northern Seoul, Incheon, northern Gyeonggi, other parts of the Chungcheong region, and northern inland Gyeongbuk, heavy rain of around 30 mm per hour is expected from dawn to morning.
In Jeju Island, where a typhoon warning has been issued, winds will blow very strongly at maximum speeds of 20 to 30 m/s. Winds will also gradually strengthen in some island areas of Jeonnam, raising the possibility of a typhoon warning being announced.
The morning low temperature is forecasted to be 25 to 28 degrees Celsius, and the daytime high temperature 28 to 34 degrees Celsius. Fine dust levels will be 'Good' nationwide due to smooth atmospheric dispersion and the effects of precipitation.
Sea waves will be 1.0 to 2.5 meters in the East Sea nearshore, and 0.5 to 3.5 meters in the West Sea and South Sea nearshore.

Along the coasts of Jeju Island, the South Sea, and the East Sea, high waves caused by swell may overflow rocky shores, breakwaters, and coastal roads, so approaching coastal areas should be avoided.
Wave heights in the offshore seas (about 200 km from the coastline) are expected to be 1.0 to 3.0 meters in the East Sea and 1.0 to 4.0 meters in the West Sea and South Sea.
