Incheon Namdong-gu Expands Eligibility for Congenital Hearing Loss Screening and Hearing Aid Support for Infants and Toddlers
Namdong-gu, Incheon announced on the 20th that starting this year, it will completely abolish the income criteria for congenital hearing loss testing and hearing aid support for infants and toddlers, thereby expanding the support targets.
To prevent language and intellectual developmental disabilities through early rehabilitation treatment by early detection of congenital hearing loss, all newborns must undergo auditory screening within one month of birth.
Newborns who require retesting based on the screening results must undergo a hearing loss confirmation test within three months of birth, and if diagnosed with hearing loss, hearing aids and treatment must begin within six months of birth.
Starting this year, with no income criteria, more eligible individuals will receive support for outpatient hearing loss screening and confirmation test costs. Additionally, hearing aids will be provided up to a limit of 1.35 million KRW per device for infants and toddlers under five years old with hearing loss who have not received a hearing disability grade.
Applications can be made by visiting the Health Promotion Division on the 4th floor of Namdong-gu Public Health Center in person or through the e-Health Center public health portal.
