When Answering Calls, Department Name and Phone Number Appear... Pyeongtaek City Introduces 'Smart Lettering'
Prevention Effects of Voice Phishing Impersonating Government Offices
On the 19th, Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it has been pilot-operating the 'Smart Lettering Service' since this month to prevent phone scams impersonating government offices and to enhance the reliability of administrative calls.
This service displays the city hall image along with the department name and administrative phone number on the citizen's smartphone screen when Pyeongtaek City calls them. At the end of the call, it also provides the latest city administration announcements and event information.
However, the service is only available on Android-based smartphones with the 'Visible ARS Service Sharing App' installed. For other smartphone users, if the call is not connected due to absence or other reasons, a phone notification service via Kakao AlimTalk will be provided.
The city will first operate the service targeting administrative welfare centers in towns, townships, and neighborhoods within the jurisdiction and departments with high call volumes with citizens, then plans to expand it to all departments in the future.
