Emergency Allocation of 326.8 Billion Won in Reserve Funds for COVID-19 Treatment Drug Purchase
Secured 262,000 Treatment Courses... Supply Stabilization Within This Month
The government has urgently allocated 326.8 billion KRW in contingency funds for the additional purchase of COVID-19 treatments. This amount can purchase treatments for approximately 262,000 people.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) announced that the 326.8 billion KRW contingency fund for additional COVID-19 treatment purchases was approved at the Cabinet meeting on the 19th.
Due to a more than 40-fold increase in the use of treatments over the past month amid the summer resurgence of COVID-19, the KDCA has been working with the Ministry of Economy and Finance since the end of July to urgently secure the budget for additional purchases.
The KDCA plans to sufficiently supply the newly procured treatments to pharmacies nationwide by next week to stabilize the supply of treatments within this month.

Furthermore, the 262,000 treatment courses purchased this time are expected to be stably supplied to high-risk groups until October.
