This vaccination measure follows the occurrence of Lumpy Skin Disease in a Korean beef cattle farm in the neighboring city of Anseong on the 12th. The city completed vaccination for 14,464 heads of cattle across 221 farms from the 14th to the 18th.
For farms raising fewer than 50 heads of Korean beef cattle, vaccination teams composed of public veterinarians, livestock cooperatives, and government officials were organized to assist with the vaccinations. The city explained that farms with 50 or more heads conducted vaccinations independently.
Along with vaccinations, quarantine activities to prevent the spread were also intensified. Since the 13th, 12 pest control vehicles and 6 disinfection vehicles have been deployed on-site to carry out pest control activities aimed at blocking the entry of Lumpy Skin Disease. Additionally, 16 livestock department staff members were dispatched to assess farm conditions and encourage vaccination. The city plans to continue focusing all efforts on pest control activities to block blood-sucking insects such as mosquitoes and flies, which are known vectors of Lumpy Skin Disease.
