Police Chief: "Deputy Commissioner Jo Byeong-no's Transfer Is a Clear Demotion, Not a Lateral Move"
Police Commissioner Jo Ji-ho stated on the 19th that the transfer of Police Superintendent Jo Byung-no from the Suwon Southern Police Station to the Jeonnam Police Agency was “not a demotion in name only, but clearly a demotion.”
At a regular press briefing that day, Commissioner Jo said, “It is inappropriate to make (investigation-related) phone calls while serving as the Head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Community Safety Division,” adding, “This is a prohibited act within the organization.”
Commissioner Jo explained, “There were various inappropriate behaviors, and I thought responsibility must be held,” and added, “The police chief with personnel authority judged that the position was inappropriate, and that the information and investigation posts were also not suitable.”
