Gyeonggi Province has launched the ‘AI Robot Utilization Senior Health Management Project’ at 14 public health centers across the province to assist in managing the health of residents aged 65 and older.

This project involves lending robots equipped with the generative AI ‘Chat-GPT’ to households, providing ▲improved self-health management abilities (alarms for regular medication and meal management) ▲emotional support (voice conversation service) ▲cognitive training (dementia prevention programs) ▲emergency alert services to caregivers and, if necessary, connection to 119 emergency control centers ▲24-hour monitoring.

Previously, Gyeonggi Province accepted applications from public health centers to participate in the project and selected 14 centers, including Ilsandong-gu in Goyang City.

For this project, Gyeonggi Province secured a total of 583 robots. They have been sequentially lending them to households starting from health centers prepared since the end of June. The support targets are health-vulnerable elderly living alone aged 65 or older, identified by each health center, and installation is done with the consent of the household.

Oh Myung-sook, Director of Health Promotion at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Considering the rapidly increasing elderly population, we introduced AI health management robots for customized health care and 24-hour safety management," adding, "We expect this to help eliminate blind spots for health-vulnerable groups and prevent solitary deaths."
