Trump Holds Rival Campaign Rallies in Battleground States Ahead of Harris Inauguration
Trump and Vance Campaign in Battleground States from 19th to 23rd
Former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate in the United States, will campaign in battleground states this week. Aligning with the Democratic National Convention from the 19th to the 22nd, which will be the inauguration for Vice President Kamala Harris, he plans to expand his support base by launching a counter-campaign in key battleground states that will determine the outcome of the presidential election.
On the 18th (local time), the Trump campaign announced in a press release that former President Trump and vice presidential candidate Senator J.D. Vance (Ohio) will campaign in battleground states from the next day until the 23rd. It is reported that the focus of Trump’s rallies will be on Vice President Harris’s dangerously progressive and failed record.
On the 19th, Trump will hold an economic and energy-related event in York, Pennsylvania, under the theme of "Making America Wealthy Again." The following day, on the 20th, he will visit Detroit, Michigan (addressing crime and safety issues). On the 21st, he will be in Asheboro, North Carolina (national security), and on the 22nd, in Montezuma, Arizona (illegal immigration). On the 23rd, he will hold a rally in Glendale, Arizona (Making America Great Again). Senator Vance will also tour battleground states starting the next day in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, followed by Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, and Nevada, holding joint or solo rallies with former President Trump.
The Trump campaign stated, "Former President Trump and Senator Vance will meet Americans across the nation’s battlegrounds to remind them that the new administration will end inflation, protect communities from crime, secure the borders, and make America great again."
Additionally, Trump campaign officials plan to hold a separate press conference in Chicago, where the Democratic National Convention is taking place, to intensify their attacks on Vice President Harris.
Meanwhile, Senator Vance downplayed recent polls showing Vice President Harris leading former President Trump, saying, "Polls tend to overstate the Democrats." In an interview with Fox News that day, he said, "We saw in 2016 and 2020 how the media used fake polls to suppress Republican voter turnout and create discord and conflict among Republican voters," adding, "Our internal data shows Harris’s support has already flattened." He particularly described the recent rise in Harris’s support as temporary, using the term "sugar high."
