Black Smoke from Fire at Asan Factory... Fire Authorities Issue Level 2 Response
At 4:04 PM on the 17th, a fire broke out at a waste oil refining factory in Sujang-ri, Sinchang-myeon, Asan-si, Chungnam. So far, no casualties have been reported.
The fire department raised the alert to Response Level 2 at around 4:27 PM, 23 minutes after the fire started, and is currently working to extinguish the fire. Response Level 1 involves dispatching all personnel from the local fire station, while Response Level 2 mobilizes all personnel and equipment from 5 to 6 neighboring fire stations.
So far, three factory buildings and two oil trucks have been completely destroyed. Due to the rapid spread of the fire and explosions occurring during firefighting efforts, it is expected to take some time to fully extinguish the blaze.

At 5:01 PM, Asan City sent a safety alert text message informing residents of the fire and urged residents of Baemidong, Sinchang-myeon, Silokdong, and Deuksandong to close their windows and avoid approaching the area around the fire.
