Various Events Held at Jwacheon Traditional Market Public Parking Lot
Jangan-eup in Gijang-gun (Eup Chief Park Kyunghee) will hold the '105th Anniversary of the April 9 Jwacheon Market Independence Movement and the 79th Liberation Day Commemoration Event' at the Jwacheon Traditional Market Public Parking Lot on the upcoming 15th, in celebration of Liberation Day.
The 'April 9 Jwacheon Market Independence Movement Commemoration Event' is held to remember the independence movement that took place on April 9 at Jwacheon Market Day in Jangan-eup, following the March 1st Movement in 1919.
This event began with the hope that the March 1st Independence Movement Monument, built in 2017 at the Jwacheon Traditional Market Public Parking Lot, would be designated as a memorial facility.
Even after the monument was designated as a memorial facility in December 2018, the event has continued as a major village event and is held together with the Liberation Day commemoration.
On the day of the event, from 10:30 a.m., there will be pre-ceremony performances including ▲saxophone performance ▲Korean traditional dance ▲chorus ▲singing performance. Starting at 11:00 a.m., the main ceremony will feature ▲calligraphy performance ▲recitation of patriotic poetry ▲singing of the March 1st Movement song ▲three cheers for independence ▲flower offering and incense burning.
Park Kyunghee, Chief of Jangan-eup, said, "This year's independence movement commemoration will be held together with the Liberation Day event, making it a meaningful occasion to honor the sacrifice and dedication of our patriots. I hope this event will inspire pride among local residents and serve as an opportunity to carry on the spirit of the independence movement."
