A Japanese man has sparked attention by confessing that he only recently found out the age of his girlfriend, whom he had been dating for seven years.

On the 11th, Hong Kong media outlet South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported the story of a man who discovered his girlfriend's "real age" just before their wedding. According to the media, the couple Yoshitaka and Akiko decided to get married after seven years of dating.

However, Akiko was anxious before the wedding because she had been hiding her age from her boyfriend. She had always told Yoshitaka that she was "15 years older," but in fact, she was "25 years older."

Akiko feared that Yoshitaka would leave her if he found out her actual age, but she confessed the truth just before the wedding.

Yoshitaka's reaction was surprising. He said, "Your real age doesn't matter. What’s important is why you lived with such worry for so long without telling me," and instead comforted her.

After the story became known, there were many warm responses locally, such as "Love transcends age. Wishing you happiness," "Akiko looks much younger than women of that age," and "It’s understandable to feel betrayed, but Yoshitaka is amazing."

Akiko emphasized, "In Japanese society, women who are older than their husbands often hesitate to reveal their age," adding, "True love is what matters most. We need to recognize and accept couples in various forms."
