Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) renovated the site of an old security post into a resting area for residents on the 31st of last month to alleviate residents' inconveniences.

The security post located in Guui 2-dong was a place where residents voluntarily operated and patrolled. However, as its security function weakened and it became old and hazardous, demolition requests increased, leading to its maintenance in April for safety reasons.

The site of the post was transformed into a resting area reflecting residents' opinions. The resting area, measuring 20㎡, was designed like a garden befitting its name as a space for residents to relax. A wooden facade was installed to enhance the aesthetic of the retaining wall, and a wooden flower bed was added to create a soft and warm atmosphere. Plants such as wild roses, azaleas, and spindle trees were planted to harmonize with the surrounding environment.

A resident living in Guui 2-dong expressed gratitude, saying, "There are many sloped areas around the neighborhood, so I thought it would be nice to have a place to rest while walking, and now that the resting area has been created, I can sit comfortably and relax."

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, "Reducing residents' inconveniences is the foundation of communicative administration. Please let us know what you need and what is inconvenient, and we will actively consider it," adding, "We will continue to do our best to ensure that residents can live safely and conveniently through constant communication."

Meanwhile, a district official announced that plants such as hydrangea, red spirea, golden spirea, and Japanese holly will be planted on the fence in front of the resting area to create a cozier and more comfortable atmosphere.
