Seo Chaehyun is a prodigy who started climbing rocks at the age of 7. In 2019, when she debuted on the senior stage, she won four gold medals in the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Cup series lead events. Although she finished 8th in the finals at the Tokyo Olympics, she won a silver medal at last year's Hangzhou Asian Games. Seo Chaehyun is ranked 18th in the world in women's bouldering and 3rd in lead, showing a stronger advantage in lead. Her combined world ranking for bouldering and lead is 4th.
Bouldering requires climbing a 4.5-meter-high rock wall within a set time, with a total of 4 problems. Each problem is worth up to 25 points, with a maximum score of 100 points. Climbers gain points by stepping on and grabbing artificial protrusions (holds) on the rock wall with their hands and feet to reach specific zones. The scoring zones are Low Zone (5 points), High Zone (10 points), and Top (25 points).

To be recognized as having completed a climb, the climber must hold the top hold with both hands and maintain stability. Multiple attempts are allowed within the time limit, but each retry results in a 0.1-point deduction. The lead event, scheduled for the 8th, involves climbing a 15-meter-high wall by grabbing holds within 6 minutes, competing for the highest reached point.
In problem 1, Seo Chaehyun reached the Low Zone on her first attempt but could not advance further within the time limit, earning 5 points. In problem 2, she conquered the Top after just two attempts, passing through the Low Zone and High Zone, scoring 24.8 points, and celebrated by gripping the top hold with one hand while clenching her other fist.
In problem 3, she reached the High Zone but did not reach the Top, earning 9.7 points. In the last problem, which many competitors struggled with, Seo Chaehyun held onto the Low Zone with both hands and finished the round with a 0.3-point deduction, earning 4.7 points.
