With the peak vacation season underway, President Yoon plans to visit traditional markets across the country to revitalize local economies and engage in public welfare activities. He will stay with his wife, First Lady Kim Keon-hee, at the presidential retreat on Jeodo Island in Geoje, Gyeongnam, to recharge, while also dedicating significant time to future political planning. A presidential office official stated, "He plans to visit local markets and shops to boost domestic demand and also visit military facilities."
Amid strong opposition party criticism regarding the vacation, pressing national issues remain, so it is reported that President Yoon will attend to work intermittently during his break. With the ongoing heatwave, preparations are being made, and there are many matters to review, including the delayed settlements of TMON and WEMAKEPRICE, as well as the comprehensive real estate measures to be announced before the 15th of this month. President Yoon will receive reports on these issues even while at his vacation site.
If bills led by the opposition party, such as the "Broadcasting Four Acts" (amendments to the Broadcasting Act, the Promotion of Broadcasting Culture Act, the Korea Educational Broadcasting System Act, and the Korea Communications Commission Act) and the "Nationwide 250,000 Won Support Act" (Special Measures Act on the Payment of Livelihood Recovery Support Funds), are sent to the government before the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Han Duck-soo scheduled for the 6th, the government plans to pass a resolution recommending the exercise of the right to request reconsideration at the cabinet meeting, after which President Yoon may approve it electronically from his vacation site.
If the "Yellow Envelope Act" (amendment to the Labor Union and Labor Relations Adjustment Act) also passes the National Assembly that day, it will take about a week to be sent to the government. Since the president must promulgate or exercise the right to request reconsideration within 15 days of the government's receipt, he is expected to deliberate on this while at his vacation site.
A presidential office official said, "President Yoon is considering a plan to directly explain to the public the government's plans on education, labor, pension, medical reform, and measures to address low birth rates," adding, "He is expected to devote himself to major reform plans even during his vacation."
Last year, President Yoon took his summer vacation from August 2 to 8, for six nights and seven days. During that time, he attended the Saemangeum Secondary Battery Investment Agreement Ceremony and the opening ceremony of the Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree held in Gunsan, Jeonbuk, and toured the naval base in Jinhae, Gyeongnam, encouraging the troops.
