'Founding Staff' Kang Hoon, Presidential Office Policy and Public Relations Secretary, Resigns
It was confirmed on the 4th that Kang Hoon, Policy Promotion Secretary of the Presidential Office, has tendered his resignation.
A Presidential Office official said, "Secretary Kang recently submitted his resignation, which has been accepted," adding, "I understand he has informed those around him about his retirement."
Secretary Kang is an original aide who has been with President Yoon since he resigned from the Prosecutor General position in March 2021 and entered politics.
A former journalist, Secretary Kang was responsible for handling negative responses during the presidential election campaign, and after President Yoon's election, he served as the first Policy Promotion Secretary (formerly the National Public Relations Secretary) until recently. Secretary Kang conducted evaluations of government agencies' promotional performance grades in line with President Yoon's emphasis on national and policy promotion.

A Presidential Office official stated, "Having worked for over three years from the presidential campaign to the Presidential Office, he likely needs time to recharge," adding, "There is also a possibility that after stepping down as secretary and taking a break, he may take on other roles."
