Incheon City Provides Close Support for Youth Caring for Sick Family Members
Incheon City has decided to provide close support to adolescents and young adults who are solely responsible for caring for sick family members, and will accept applications for support services until the 30th of this month.
Eligible applicants are adolescents and young adults aged 13 to 34 who live at the same address as the family member in need of care and have no other adult household members in the family.
Once support is approved, a dedicated management staff will be assigned to provide care and medical services to the sick family member, and comprehensively connect various public and private services that help adolescents and young adults prepare for the future, such as scholarships, financial, housing, and career counseling.
Additionally, if the household income and assets of the service recipient are below 100% of the median, an annual "self-care allowance" of 2 million KRW will be provided.
Applications for support can be submitted online (www.mohw2030.co.kr), and from the 14th, applications will also be accepted at local administrative welfare centers.
Previously, Incheon City was selected for the Ministry of Health and Welfare's pilot project for dedicated family care support, signed a business agreement with the Incheon Social Service Institute as the entrusted agency, and completed the recruitment of dedicated personnel.
The city also plans to temporarily open the Youth Future Center in Michuhol-gu on the 14th to provide initial counseling and various services for online applicants.
