[Mania] Ride Comfort, Features, and Content... GV70 Enhanced with 'Genesis Sensibility'
GV70, Facelift Released After 3 Years and 4 Months
Sales Soar Since Facelift Launch
Sharper Driving Performance with Enhanced Ride Comfort
Upgraded Sound and Interior Fragrance Included
The Genesis mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) GV70 has returned as a facelifted model. The newly launched GV70 in May sold 4,651 units in June alone, quickly rising to 4th place among domestic SUVs. It surpassed popular mass models in the domestic market such as Santa Fe, Tucson, and Kona in the gasoline SUV category, as well as the flagship Genesis model GV80.
After 3 years and 4 months, the facelifted GV70 was released, enhancing not only sharp driving performance but also ride comfort, offering abundant infotainment content, upgraded sound, and even interior fragrance, completing the unique Genesis sensibility.
First, the design maintained a dynamic yet elegant concept. The signature dual-line lamps of Genesis feature advanced technology called 'MLA (Micro Lens Array)'. Small lamps made with ultra-precision manufacturing technology are densely arranged to increase brightness and allow precise selection of the illuminated parts. At the rear, the turn signals, previously located near the bumper, were moved upward. This was done so that cars closely following in traffic jams can easily see the turn signals of the car ahead.
The driving capability was agile and powerful. The test vehicle was a gasoline turbo 3.5 all-wheel-drive model equipped with a sports package, powered by a V6 turbo engine producing a maximum output of 380 horsepower. It was more than enough to freely maneuver the massive body weighing over 2 tons.
The ride comfort was also impressive. The smooth ride quality of Genesis sedans could be felt in the SUV as well. The area Genesis focused on most in this facelifted GV70 was improving ride comfort. The 'hydro bushing,' previously applied only to the front suspension, was also applied to the rear suspension. Bushings are components that flexibly connect parts within the suspension to absorb shocks. In the past, rubber materials were used for these parts, but the 'hydro bushing' contains liquid inside to better absorb vibrations.
However, fuel efficiency was disappointing. This model’s official combined fuel efficiency is 8.3 km per liter. During the test drive, the fuel efficiency never exceeded 6 km/l. For a reporter who usually drives a hybrid car as a personal vehicle, this gasoline engine’s fuel efficiency felt somewhat harsh.
The interior and convenience features clearly reflected Genesis’s 'sensibility' as a premium brand. In the center of the vehicle, a large 27-inch display seamlessly connected the instrument cluster and infotainment screen. When augmented reality (AR) navigation is activated, the instrument cluster display switches to a camera view, showing the real-time driving scene. Arrows appear over the actual driving footage to indicate directions and distances, making navigation much easier. When searching for destinations, users can use voice recognition or write in cursive on the round controller.

Another distinguishing feature of the new GV70 is its sound system. This model is equipped with the Bang & Olufsen sound system, which delivers delicate and rich sound. It also includes the 'Dolby Atmos' feature, which accurately places sound movements in three-dimensional space to provide realistic audio. The infotainment content includes OTT services such as Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, Wavve, and TVING, allowing users to enjoy various content on a wide screen with immersive sound. The price starts at 65.65 million KRW for the 3.5 gasoline all-wheel-drive model with the sports package.
