10 Companies and Organizations Raise Funds to Support 5 Local Governments Affected by Heavy Rain
Instant Food, Daily Necessities Delivered to Special Disaster Areas
The Foundation for Cooperation between Large, Small and Medium Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries (Cooperation Foundation) announced on the 1st that it will provide emergency relief supplies worth approximately 294 million KRW, including agricultural and marine products and daily necessities, to areas affected by heavy rain using the Agriculture and Fisheries Win-Win Cooperation Fund.
The target areas are five locations: Yeongdong-gun in Chungbuk, Nonsan-si and Seocheon-gun in Chungnam, Wanju-gun in Jeonbuk, and Ipam-myeon in Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk. Support for areas affected by heavy rain aims to provide necessary supplies to disaster victims in regions declared special disaster zones while promoting the consumption of local agricultural and marine products. A total of 10 companies and institutions, including Korea Land and Housing Corporation, Jeil Feed Co., Ltd., and Korea Asset Management Corporation, participated.
The support items, coordinated with each local government, include instant food packages using domestic agricultural and marine products (120 boxes for Yeongdong-gun, 1,000 boxes for Nonsan-si, 500 boxes for Wanju-gun, 50 boxes for Ipam-myeon in Yeongyang-gun), daily necessities packages (700 boxes for Seocheon-gun, 100 boxes for Wanju-gun), blankets (44 units for Yeongdong-gun), and Rural Love Gift Certificates (44.8 million KRW for Wanju-gun).
The Agriculture and Fisheries Win-Win Cooperation Fund is a fund that supports the promotion of win-win cooperation between agriculture, fisheries, rural areas, and companies that have suffered or may suffer damage due to the implementation of Free Trade Agreements (FTA).
Over the past seven years, funds amounting to 240.1 billion KRW have been raised from 339 companies, and in 2023, during the heavy rain damage, 13 companies provided 186 million KRW through the Agriculture and Fisheries Win-Win Cooperation Fund.
Kim Young-hwan, Secretary General of the Cooperation Foundation, said, "We hope that residents who have lost their homes and are suffering due to the recent heavy rain will recover their daily lives as soon as possible, and we thank the many companies and institutions that have provided help." Lee Han-jun, CEO of Korea Land and Housing Corporation, who participated in the donation, stated, "We hope this emergency support will bring warm hope to rural residents affected by the record-breaking heavy rain."

The government declared 11 additional local governments as special disaster zones on the 25th of last month. The Cooperation Foundation plans to provide necessary supplies to disaster victims in these local governments as well.
