According to the Boryeong Fire Station, at around 2:06 p.m. on the 31st, fireworks loaded on a vehicle for the event exploded and caused a fire at Daecheon Beach.
The fire authorities believe that the fireworks prepared for the event spontaneously ignited due to the heat wave. No casualties have been reported.
The relevant authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
The 16th National Marine Sports Festival will be held at Daecheon Beach in Boryeong for four days starting today.
