ASICLand Signs $19 Million Contract for eSSD Controller Development
ASICLAND strengthens its global market competitiveness through eSSD controller development in partnership with Phadu.
ASICLAND (CEO Jongmin Lee), a leading company in ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) design solutions, announced on the 30th that it has signed a $19 million (approximately 26.1 billion KRW) contract with the global semiconductor fabless company Phadu for the development of an eSSD controller.
This contract aims at the development and supply of next-generation eSSD (enterprise Solid State Drive) controller ASICs. ASICLAND will be responsible for the overall design and manufacturing processes, including IP contracts, front-end and back-end design, DFT & DFT RTL design, tape-out, and wafer processing. Through this, the company plans to accelerate the development of high-performance and low-power SSD solutions and further strengthen its competitiveness in the global market.
Currently, the global semiconductor market is experiencing a surge in demand for low-power, high-performance solutions due to the resumption of data center investments and the spread of artificial intelligence (AI). The importance of eSSD controllers is increasing accordingly. High-performance eSSD controllers are becoming core components for data centers and AI applications, drawing attention as key solutions to provide high performance and reliability, especially in environments requiring large-scale data processing and fast response times such as data centers, cloud computing, AI applications, and financial transaction systems.
ASICLAND is already developing high-efficiency power management semiconductors (PLP, PMIC) necessary for eSSD modules (Drives) in collaboration with Phadu. Through this contract, ASICLAND has secured a position to supply the core chips of eSSD modules (Drives) aimed at mass production of eSSD controllers and eSSD modules (Drives). This expansion into next-generation memory solution development, including eSSD products, is expected to significantly enhance competitiveness in the global market together with its partners.
