[Concall] Samsung Electronics "Q3 HBM3E 8-Stack Supply to Begin in Earnest"
On the 31st, Samsung Electronics stated during its 2024 Q2 earnings conference call that "(5th generation) HBM3E 8-stack products are undergoing normal customer evaluations, and mass production supply is expected to ramp up in the third quarter." They added, "The industry-first developed and sample-supplied HBM3E 12-stack has already completed mass production ramp-up preparations and is scheduled to expand supply in the second half of the year according to multiple customers' requested timelines."
They continued, "The sales proportion of our HBM3E within our HBM lineup is expected to exceed the mid-10% range in the third quarter and rapidly expand to around 60% in the fourth quarter."
Samsung Electronics announced its preliminary earnings for the second quarter of this year, with sales of 74 trillion won and an operating profit of 10.4 trillion won. They added, "Regarding the next generation (6th generation) HBM4, development is progressing normally with the goal of shipment in the second half of next year. Custom HBM products optimized for performance per customer are also being developed, and detailed specifications discussions have already started with multiple customers."
