After the torrential rain stopped, and with the scorching heat in the mornings and evenings these days, Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) has set up water play areas for residents who find it burdensome to travel far to escape the heat.
On the 30th, the "2024 Dongdaemun-gu Water Play Area" opened at the outdoor swimming pool site of Jungnangcheon 1st Sports Park (19-6 Jangan-dong).
The water play area covers approximately 5,000㎡ and can accommodate up to 700 people. It is equipped with ▲ air slides ▲ a snack bar ▲ tents ▲ restrooms.
Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with 50 minutes of operation each hour followed by a 10-minute break. The facility is closed every Monday for maintenance, hygiene, and safety inspections.
To enter the pool, wearing ▲ a swimsuit ▲ a swim cap ▲ aqua shoes is mandatory. There is no separate usage fee, and life jackets required for pool entry are also available for free rental. Operation is suspended from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. for safety inspections and water quality management.
Water play facilities are also operated at Jeongneungcheon. The "Jegi Malgeunsaem Water Play Area," located on the riverbank of Jeongneungcheon (135-92 Jegi-dong), is expected to become a popular summer retreat for nearby children. Operating hours and closed days are the same as those of the "Dongdaemun Water Play Area."

The "Dongdaemun-gu Water Play Area" operates until August 25, and the "Jegi Malgeunsaem Water Play Area" operates until September 1.
A district official stated, "There is no separate parking lot at the riverbank where the water play areas are installed, so we recommend using public transportation."
